Have you ever watched a dog chase its own tail?
It’s pretty funny really. They just keep spinning and
spinning never able to quite snatch the elusive plume of fur.
It’s not unusual to watch a network marketer do the
exact same thing in terms of chasing a prospect that more
closely resembles a suspect. They keep spinning and spinning
never able to corner them in to signing up.
Chasing the wrong people is one of the most common and costly
errors people in our industry make and it is so easy to do.
The most common reasons for chasing the wrong people
are:
1. You think this person would be “so good at this.”
2. You don’t think you have any more people to talk
too.
Both of these situations couldn’t be further from the
truth. Every time you start to think that someone would be
anything you are making a mistake. As in, they would never
do this, they wouldn’t be any good, they would be great,
etc.
Secondly, with the availability of quality leads you would
never run out of people to talk too.
As soon as you find yourself getting any of the following
responses from prospects then you will know you are chasing
the wrong people.
• “I haven’t had time to look at that video
yet”
• “Call me in a few weeks when things slow down”
• “I’ m going to talk to a few of my friends
before I join”
• “I don’t have the money right now”
• “I don’t have the time right now”
• “I’m not having much luck with the products”
Now it doesn’t hurt to stay in touch with these people,
but only on occasion and not with expectations. You are better
served to go looking for new people that may have a true interest
in what you are doing.
Buying leads is one of the best ways to do this. You can
purchase an unlimited number of people to share your business
with looking for a few that will help you build it.
Just don’t chase the ones that are not interested…it
will make you dog tired.
